WILLIAM A. CONRAD

        William Andrew Conrad, 65, retired boilermaker at PCI, died Thursday in a local hospital.
        He was a native of Abbeville and resided at Westwood road, West Lake.
        Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Hixson funeral home chapel in Lake Charles. Rev. Pratt McCloud will officiate.
        Burial will be in Goos cemetery, in Lake Charles.
        Mr. Conrad was a member of Bellevue Baptist church in West Lake. He was a member of the boilermakers union and at one time was its business agent.
        He was better known as an oil well driller and had drilled some of the outstanding oil fields of Southwest Louisiana.
        Survivors are his wife, Mrs. William Conrad of West Lake; one son, Alvin Conrad of West Lake; one brother, Walter Conrad of Port Arthur, Texas; four sisters, Mrs. Ed Gober of Beaumont, Texas, Mrs. Guy Moore of High Island, Texas, Mrs. C. E. Spalding of Houston, Texas and Mrs. Tommy Mason of Houston; and seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
