MRS FRANCES
RICHARDS
LaPORTE,
Texas – Funeral services for Mrs. Frances Daniels Richards,
97, were Saturday, Feb. 17, in St. John Episcopal
Church. The Rev.
Layton Younger officiated. Graveside services were at Goos
Cemetery in Lake
Charles. Mrs.
Richards died Feb. 16, after a brief
illness. She was
a native of Southwest Louisiana and a longtime resident of
Lake Charles. She was the widow of Edward Elias Richards, a
pioneer lumberman in Southwest Louisiana and a descendant of
Captain Daniel Goos, one of the earliest settlers in the area.
Mrs. Richards spent most of her life in Lake Charles, but had
lived in LaPorte, Texas, for the past 11 years. She was a
founding member of Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd in
Lake Charles.
Surviving are her daughter, Mrs. Marie Richards Giffin of
LaPorte; five grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and two
great-great-grandchildren.
If they wish, friends may make memorial donations to Episcopal
Church of the Good Shepherd, the family said. |
