GUY RICHARDS
DEAD PROMINENT LUMBERMAN PASSED AWAY IN ALEXANDRIA
TODAY ----- WILL BE BURIED IN THIS CITY Splendid
Business Man and Enterprising Citizen Who Will Be Missed
By Large Circle of Friends and Relatives
Word was
received in this city form Alexandria today that Guy L.
Richards, one of the well known lumbermen of Southwestern
Louisiana, died suddenly at the Arlington hotel in that city
at 6 o'clock this morning. The cause of his death is not
known. The remains will be brought to Lake Charles
tonight. The
news of the death of Guy Richards was a severe shock to his
many relatives and friends in this city. He had not been
ailing, so far as any one knew, in fact his death seems to
have been very sudden. It was stated by his relatives here
today that he was subject to a kidney trouble that lately had
caused convulsions and this is supposed to have been the cause
of death. Guy
Richards was a Lake Charles boy by education and adoption,
though born in Texas. He came here when a little child and was
reared in this city. He was nearing his thirty-second birthday
and was only in the commencement of a successful business
career. Mr. Richards began his experience as a lumberman with
the J. A. Bel Lumber Company, but a few years ago launched out
on his own hook and organized the Hurricane Lumber Company at
Forest Hill, of which concern he was president. Associated
with him in this firm were his brothers, Elias and Charles. A
short time ago they bought out the Rosenthal-LaBasse mill in
this city and Elias Richards had charge of
it. Mr. Richards
was a single man, but surviving him are his aged mother, two
brothers, Elias and Charles, and two sisters, Mrs. Maurice
Rosenthal and Mrs. Emil
Jessen. Funeral
services will be held tomorrow at 10 a.m. and the remains will
be buried in the Goos cemetery in Goosport.
DEATH OF GUY L.
RICHARDS Prominent Young Lumberman Receives Final
Summons
The many
friends of Guy L. Richards were shocked to hear of his sudden
death at Alexandria at 6 o'clock this morning. Mr. Richards
had been in ill health for some time and in the absence of
details it is presumed that some acute organ trouble
manifested
itself. Mr.
Richards was a native of Lake Charles, born not quite
thirty-two years ago, and grew up to manhood in this
community. He engaged in the lumber business upon attaining
manhood and was quite successful, being vice president and
general manager of the Hurricane Creek Lumber Co. of Forest
Hill at the time of his death. He was
unmarried. The
remains will reach the city this evening and the funeral will
take place tomorrow at 10 o'clock from the home of his mother,
Mrs. E. M. Richards, corner Lawrence and Moss
streets.
