Funeral services for James A. (Jim) Funk Sr., 76, of 306 Helen St., will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 13, from Immaculate Conception Cathedral. Rev. Fernand Gouaux will officiate. Burial will be in Goos Cemetery under direction of Johnson Funeral Home.

Mr. Funk died at 4 p.m. Monday at his residence after a lengthy illness.

He was a native and lifelong resident of Lake Charles and a member of a pioneer family in Lake Charles. He was also a descendent of Captain Daniel Goos. Mr. Funk was a retired shipping clerk for J. A. Bel Lumber Co. He had worked at Milford’s Furniture, Household Furniture Co. and Hemingway’s Furniture Co. He was a member of the Hecker Hunting Club.

Survivors include his mother, Mrs. Ella Bonsall Funk of Lake Charles; three sons, Jimmy and Bill Funk, both of Lake Charles and Freddie Funk of Fayetteville, N.C.; three daughters, Mrs. Annie M. Trahan of DeRidder, Mrs. Lana Manino of Lake Charles and Mrs. Oma F. Hofstrom of Boulder, Col.; one brother, Albert Goos Funk Jr. of Lake Charles; six sisters, Mrs. Albert (Thelma) Trammel, Oma Floy Funk, Annie Goos Funk, Mrs. Bessie Heflin, Mrs. Lucius (Marie) DeRouen, all of Lake Charles; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
