Campaigning for a “model” election at Lake Charles high school with special programs and political rallies drew near a close Friday afternoon. The election will be held Monday and Tuesday. The annual event is sponsored by the four civics classes taught by Miss Rachael Norgress. Campaign speeches were made Thursday at a student body assembly by students representing various parties. SILSBEE, Texas – Funeral services for Billie Jean Sperling, 66, will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 14, in Farmer Funeral Home.

Burial will be at 5 p.m. Friday in Goos Cemetery in Lake Charles.

Visitation is 4-9 p.m. today.

Mrs. Sperling died Tuesday, Aug. 11, 1998, in a Beaumont, Texas, hospital.

A native of Lake Charles, she had lived in Silsbee for the past 23 years. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include two brothers, Walter S. Goos and Jerry W. Goos, both of Lake Charles; and one sister, Mary Lynne Lafargue of Alexandria.
