Private services for Winterhaler announced

        Private funeral services will be held for Retired Admiral Emile Reeves Winterhaler, 84.
        The body was cremated. Arrangements are under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home.
        Mr. Winterhaler died at 3:25 a.m. Wednesday in a local hospital.
        He was a native of Lake Charles, and a resident of Lake Charles 25 years. Mr. Winterhaler was a graduate of Lake Charles High School and the U.S. Naval Academy.
        During a lifetime of U. S. naval service, Mr. Winterhaler was cited by the Italian government for distinguished service as a member of the planning commission for the U. S. invasion during World War II of France and Italy. He served as a naval advisor on Gen. Mark Clark's staff for the repatriation of Germany. He was descended from two pioneer Lake Charles families.
        Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Millicent Winterhaler; two sisters, Mrs. G. Lock Paret Sr. and Mrs. J. B. Holloman Jr., both of Lake Charles, and two stepsons, Robert N. Mateer of Forest, Va., and William G. Mateer of Orlando, Fla.
